February in Photos

Ready for a whirlwind tour of what's been going on in our family this past month?  Fasten your seatbelts....

We've started a new school year. Camille is now in 11th grade (GASP!) and Caroline is in 9th. They are off to a great start!

I've graduated from a walker and wheelchair to now using crutches.  Don't worry, I'm not going to share the pictures of the girls and me taking out my post-surgery stitches.  Instead, check out the crutch bag I made from an old pair of Ken's pants, so that I can throw my wallet and phone in there and not have to awkwardly lug around a larger purse.

Our friend and fellow missionary Michael married a lovely Paraguayan gal, and I told you about being the witnesses in their civil ceremony.  A week later, we attended their outdoor religious ceremony, where a pastor married them beside a lovely pond as the sun was setting.  They are kneeling for her prayer of blessing in the photo below.  Yes, Granny, those giant green things the size of a large metal trashcan lid, are LILY PADS!  Ever seen anything like that?

Our Christmas packages finally arrived, and Ken was quite hyped about his.  He got a few bags of coffee, and was so excited that he didn't even want to give them up at siesta time!

We've had a few storms blow through, meaning cooler weather for a day or two afterward.  Caroline has been taking advantage of it by enjoying Papa's Christmas gift, her bicycle.

This is the middle of the night at the newly built park beside the river.  With the heat so intense, folks wait till it cools off a bit to come out in droves and eat their dinner or just hang out.  We meet tons of people every time we go there.

Last but not least, this is Ken's dad, AKA Papaw, about 24 hours after open-heart surgery for 5 bypasses.  He isn't actually here with us, but he's been on our minds a lot, obviously.  Despite the storms and nasty weather, we've been able to stay in touch with them, including some video calls the day after his surgery.  It wasn't cool to be so far away while he's going through this, but thank God for technology and for keeping His hand on Papaw, who is doing very well.

So how was your February?  Anything exciting going on in your neck of the woods?

  1. Our February was our anniversary of starting to date. And it was the time I realized that I only have a few weeks left until a. My kids' best friends and a fellow homeschooling family move away (sob!) and b. My newest niece and the first on my side of the family, arrives (yay!), which means I have to start knitting her blanket (yikes!). Yes, I am riding an emotional roller coaster.
